Job Description

Job Summary

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) strives to foster opportunity through all its work across the state. One aspect of building equity is ensuring that community organizations across Tennessee – whether they are rural, minority, or low-income – can equitably access funding resources to carry out critical public health work.

Community Impact Consultant (CIC) will be tasked with helping community groups – County Health Councils, local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and others doing work at the community level – develop the skills they need to seek and manage funding opportunities to support their projects to improve community resilience. Small community-based organizations are often close to the community, understand local needs, and have ideas about how to address those needs. However, they often lack the bandwidth or experience to implement their ideas. Furthermore, complex grant application processes can be a barrier to community partners obtaining funds for their projects. The CICs will work to break down these barriers for community organizations by providing grant-related trainings, offering technical assistance with developing grant proposals, and connecting community-based organizations with local funders. Through this work, the CICs will help strengthen local organizations, increase community resilience, and get dollars into the hands of those closest to the community.
